Effective date: 27 June 2026
ScanMeSaveMe (Pty) Ltd ("ScanMeSaveMe", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Scan Me Save Me mobile application (the "App") and our website at scanmesaveme.com.
The Scan Me Save Me App is built around writing information directly onto physical NFC tags that you own and control. We do not require account creation, and we do not collect or store the personal information you choose to write onto your NFC tags (such as names, medical details, or emergency contact information) on our own servers — this data is written to and read from the physical tag itself.
We may collect limited technical information automatically, including:
Any technical information collected is used only to operate, maintain, and improve the App. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties.
Data you write to an NFC tag using the App is stored physically on that tag, not on our servers. Anyone who taps or scans the tag with an NFC-capable device can read the information stored on it. You are responsible for deciding what information to include, and we recommend only including details that are safe to be read by anyone who may scan the tag (for example, avoiding full ID numbers or full residential addresses).
Where the App or website facilitates purchases (such as ordering NFC tags or wristbands), payments are processed securely by PayFast, a third-party payment provider. We do not store your card or banking details. Please refer to PayFast's own privacy policy for details on how they handle payment information.
To activate certain features, the App may validate a promo code against our server, linked to a device identifier. This is used only to prevent a single code from being used on multiple devices, and is not used for any other tracking purpose.
The App includes an optional Scam Check feature, which allows you to check whether a phone number, link, or message matches known scam patterns. When you use this feature, the number, link, or message text you enter is sent to our server to be checked against our scam database. We use this information only to perform the check and to help improve the accuracy of our scam database over time. We recommend not entering any personal information of your own (such as your own ID number or banking details) into the Scam Check tool, since it is intended for checking suspicious numbers, links, or messages you have received from others.
Some tag types (for example, child safety tags) are designed to be created and managed by a parent or guardian on behalf of a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Any information entered for a child's tag is entered and controlled by the parent or guardian using the App.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any information we do process. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
As a South African business, we comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
Our App or website may contain links to third-party sites or services (such as PayFast or sponsor pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, and the effective date above will be updated accordingly.
