Program your Pay Me Tip Me tag.

Turn your tag into a contactless way to get paid or tipped — no card machine, no app needed on the customer's side. Takes about a minute to set up.

Before you start — you'll need a PayShap or Ozow account. Your Pay Me Tip Me tag doesn't process payments itself — it stores a payment link that already exists, generated from your own account. Pick whichever you already have, or set one up:

Already bank with a South African bank? PayShap registration happens inside your own banking app — look for "PayShap" or "ShapID" under Payments. There's no separate PayShap website to sign up on.

Open the Scan Me Save Me app

From the home screen, tap Write a Tag, then choose Pay Me from the list of tag types.

Fill in your payment details

Enter Amount (optional — leave as R0.00 if you want the buyer to enter their own amount), Your Name/Business, Phone Number, and an optional Reference (e.g. "Payment for goods"). Then choose your Payment Provider — PayShap or Ozow — and paste Your Payment Link, generated from that account. The payment link is required; everything else except Amount and Reference is required too.

Accept the terms and tap Write Payment Tag

Tap WRITE PAYMENT TAG, then bring your tag to your phone's NFC "Sweet-Spot" and hold steady until you see "Written successfully!" Made a mistake? Use ERASE TAG to wipe it clean and start again.

Test it yourself first

Before handing it to a customer, scan your own tag to confirm the payment link opens correctly and goes to the right PayShap or Ozow account.

Common questions

Can I change my payment details later?
Yes — open the app, choose the same tag type, and write to the same tag again with your updated details. This simply overwrites what's there.
Does Scan Me Save Me process or store the payment?
No. ScanMeSaveMe does not process payments and takes no commission. Your tag simply stores the payment link you generate from your own PayShap or Ozow account — the buyer pays you directly through that account, not through us.
What's the difference between PayShap and Ozow?
Both are South African instant payment options. PayShap is built into most major SA banking apps already — look for "PayShap" or "ShapID" under Payments, no separate signup needed. Ozow is a separate free account you create at signup.ozow.com. Use whichever you already have, or whichever suits your business better.
What's the difference between Pay Me and Tip Me?
They work identically — the only difference is which one you choose when writing the tag, so the tag can be worded appropriately for taking payment for goods/services versus receiving a tip.
Will it work on iPhone?
Yes — the person tapping needs the Scan Me Save Me app open on iPhone to read it (this is an Apple design choice, not a limitation of the tag). On Android, no app is needed to read it at all.
